Here are some examples of syllabus subject areas that many of you will be encountering and that I can cover as part of my tutoring. However, this is not an exhaustive list and I can work with you on the subject areas you study, ultimately to help improve your grades.

Women in the Ancient World – studying Helen of Troy, ‘the Assemblywomen’ (by Aristophanes), Medea, Pandora, The Sabine Women, Tarpeia, Lucretia and ancient systems of education and marriage, life in the home, female slaves, Neaira and Aspasia, Clodia (who could be ‘Lesbia’) and Cytheris/ Lycoris, Agnodice, the repeal of the Oppian Law, Sempronia and the Catilinarian Conspiracy, the Amazons, Camilla (in Virgil’s Aeneid) and Cleopatra
  2. Roman City Life – Looking at a range of ancient buildings and lifestyles in Rome (looked at the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus as forms of entertainment, the role and lifestyles of citizens and slaves and the household and education).
